The Artful Yarn's website is under construction. Please bear with us as we work through the transition.
Erika is part of The Campaign for Wool, a global promotion initiated by its patron, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, in order to raise awareness about the natural, sustainable and many unique functional benefits provided by wool. The Artful Yarn has been a champion of wool fiber since our opening 4 years ago. From our many wool based yarns to our educational offerings about the benefits and qualities of various sheep breeds.
There has been a huge decline in wool production here in the US as well as worldwide as natural fibers have been overtaken by manmade ones. Learn more about wool and how much better for the environment it is and how much healthier it is for you and your family by checking out The Campaign for Wool’s website.

Erika Knight is a highly respected international knitwear and crochet designer based in Great Britain. She has a big story! She has created patterns for many yarn companies and magazines. She has authored over 12 books including the Harmony Guides to Stitches, which many of us have on our home bookshelves. And now our upcoming trunk show will introduce you to her newest yarn collection.
In a phone conversation with Erika in October, she shared with me that she loves The Artful Yarn’s approach to sustainable and ethically-sourced fibers where possible and our view that knitting and crochet is about a community of learning and sharing. With her ‘simple’ ethos, Erika has a unique interpretation of craft: her mission is to simplify and communicate her insight and passion for knitting and crochet with accessible yet enticing projects in order to inspire everyone to experiment and, above all, enjoy creating. Sounds familiar! Our holiday message this year is Give the Gift of Making!
