Knitting in the round

This will be an all-day class.  We will start with a discussion of how to choose the correct fit, why gauge is important, and read through the pattern to understand its construction. Then we will learn to knit a swatch in the round, not flat (with the long floats), while we are following the pattern for the increase for the shoulder.  You will put stitches on a holder, cast on new stitches, and pick up stitches for the arm.  This will be used as our swatch for gauge at the end.  Participants in this all-day session are encouraged to come back to the shop as often as they would like for assistance on their project going forward.

BEANSTALK HAT

DUMPLING KITTY
designed by Sarah Sloyer

This is a crochet amigurumi class. 
This pattern is worked from the top of the kitty, starting with the ears, down.  It's worked in a continuous spiral using single crochet.  Learn to keep track of your stitches, how to join these as you go, single crochet increases.  Not sure what yarn we're using for this guy yet.

Diponaea Compagne is the companion to designer Woolly Wormhead's popular Diponaea Hat pattern. Featuring cluster stitches in two colors and worked sideways in panels, this pattern creates an intriguing pattern that’s ideal for solid and semi-solid yarns.

FELTED TOTE BAG

This felted bag is easy and fun to knit
for any skill level! And there is no
purling in this project! Our instructor has created notes for making this tote, which will be shared during the class.
Beginning cast-on and knitting
directions for the bag bottom will be shared in time for this session.

What You Will Learn
How to pick up stitches to form the bottom of the bag, how to add in new colors to create stripes, knitting an i-cord bind-off, knitting an i-cord strap/handle and and now to felt your bag.

Holding yarn double, cast on 52 stitches and knit 50 rows in garter stitch.
Do not bind-off. Leave needle in your work. This is the bottom of you bag and you will learn how to pick up stitches around the bottom to begin the sides. Also, with scrap yarn, cast on 20 stitches and knit 2" for I-cord bind off practice.

OTN Rally Day 2026
​Participants will start receiving
their downloadable class patterns
the week of July 14th. 

Patterns are purchased in your name through Ravelry and emailed to you.
You will need to print your own pattern copies when you receive them.

We will not be able to resend patterns
a second time. If you lose your pattern email, you will need to purchase that pattern from Ravelry yourself.

Due to the sheer volume of pattern pages, we are unable to accommodate the vast amount of printing required to supply everyone printed copies.
