Three Book Reviews That Have a Heavy Sock Influence
By Randi Russell 1) The Weekend Crashers by Jamie Brenner This book was suggested at our knitting book club. The Weekend Crashers accomplishes what it sets out to do: deliver a cozy, heartwarming, slightly chaotic weekend-getaway story with charm, humor, and character-driven emotional dynamics. It won’t knock your SOCKS off if you want serious literary depth or high drama — but as a “comfort read” (especially for fans of family-centric or “women’s fiction” novels), it’s an enjoyable lite read, perfect for busy holiday times! 2) The Sock Project by Summer Lee If you know me, you know I love the designer Summer Lee. She is creative, knowledgeable, honest and funny. Of course she is passionate about sock knitting! This book feels fun from the start. The patterns are colorful, cheerful and super wearable. It is a great mix of approachable designs and playful textures that make you want to cast on immediately.! You will want to knit every pair! Oh right , that is exactly what I am doing! What I love most about the book is it doesn’t talk down to you. Whether you have knit forty socks or you are eyeing your first heel flap with suspicion, Summer will make the whole process feel doable and fun. It is the kind of book that answers the question,” why knit socks”. 3) Knit 2 Socks in 1 by Safiyyah Talley This book is exactly what it sounds like- a clever, slightly quirky sock knitting book, that turns the usual process on its head in the best way! Instead of knitting one sock after the other ( and getting second sock syndrome), Talley teaches you to knit one long tube that becomes both socks. Then the magical fun begins as you split it into two with a lifeline and finish the heels and toes. It’s ingenious, satisfying, and sooo fun. So, new year with new ideas! Give these books a look! Happy New Year! And Happy Knitting! Comments are closed.
