This large, graphic shawl is lightweight – perfect for transitional seasons. The increases add a beautiful detail at the edge that is reminiscent of woodgrain, elevating what would be a very simple piece to something artfully crafted. Though the increases may be unfamiliar to you, they are extremely easy to execute. Though this isn’t a beginner project, if you can knit, purl, slip stitches, and work a yarn over, you will easily be able to whip up a Polarize. If you haven’t worked a provisional cast-on before, this is a great project to learn on. Only a few stitches are cast-on this way, so don’t let a little thing like a cast-on deter you.
You need 2 skeins of Perennial yarn and a US Size 4 needle. We suggest starting on a 24" circular and move to a 32" needle when you start getting more stitches. Perennial is a gorgeous fingering blend of 60% superwash merino/25% suri alpaca/15% nylon with a whopping 497 yards! This pattern is available for purchase on Ravelry.
