Tunisian crochet is not just another word for crocheting. It’s a craft unto itself. It blends the best of knitting and crocheting. With crocheting, you are always turning your working at the end of the row to continue with the pattern. In Tunisian crochet, you are only working on one side. You do not need to know how to knit or crochet for this class, but if you have some experience with either one, it might help you.
With Tunisian crochet, you are working the stitch and collecting the loops onto your hook in the forward pass. At the end of the row, you are not turning your work but working the return pass to complete the row and taking the loops off your hook. Tunisian crochet uses its own tool called a Tunisian or afghan hook and it's about 14" long.
It's very fun and very easy - trust us! And there are TONS of great patterns out there on Ravelry too! Learn how during our kick-off workshop!
You will learn how to create the foundation chain, the Tunisian simple crochet foundation row, and the lovely Tunisian wave technique shown here. Create a Tunisian Waves Cowl inspired by TL Yarn Crafts.
