Tour of The Season September Color of the Month: Thrushcross Grange
You’re invited to join Wonderland Yarns as they create a Tour of The Season venturing into society at well-known literary country manors, city estates, masked ballrooms — and maybe even a garden party or two. This year they have selected a set of 12 lush tones that you’d find in and around parties and ballrooms and forms a lovely, cohesive palette for the year! Think Jane Austen and even Bridgerton! Tiaras optional!
The featured yarn is Mad Hatter, a pretty sport weight yarn with 344 yards of the softest merino. Our book inspiration this month is Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte. The color is Thrushcross Grange, one the mansions that impacts main characters, Heathcliff and Cathy's, budding love story.
Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights (1847) is a romance novel that depicts the female romantic fantasy of being a woman who is loved by two men, with each of these men representing ideal types that can be found in romantic literature. It was controversial at its time for its depictions of mental and physical cruelty, including domestic abuse, and for its challenges to Victorian morality, religion, and the class system.
Wuthering Heights represents human nature at its darkest. It represents the fatal and selfish side of love. It's a very accurate depiction of how selfish love can get. Cathy and Heathcliff's love is fatal not only to them, but also to everyone around them. We recommend watching the 1939 film classic starring Sir Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon on a colder, darker evening this Fall.
Wonderland Yarns is providing stunning single-skein patterns or join the block of the month yearlong party that explores different stitches and techniques PLUS there are fun freebies involved and that's always awesome!
