Wet Felted Soaps Saturday, August 16
Saturday, August 16
1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Let's try something new! Wet felting is the process of matting and compressing wool fibers using water, soap, and agitation, either manually or in the washing machine. This technique allows the fibers to interlock and form a dense, durable fabric that can be used in many applications, including garments and tote bags. To introduce you to the process and experience the transformation from fiber to fabric, we will decorate bars of soap with wool fibers. At the end of the class you'll have soap wrapped in a decorative wool coating. Not only will the soap last longer, the wool acts as a gentle exfoliator.
Kits will be available to purchase at the shop and will contain 2 bars of soap, several colors of wool, and a nylon stocking. Please bring a hand towel and a plastic bin or bowl at least 6" deep.
