Girl Scout Pursues Her Gold Award
Mary Condon, a student in Chagrin Falls, is pursuing the highest honor in Girl Scouting, the Gold Award. Mary has partnered with Akron's Battered Women's Shelter, The Lantern Nursing Home and The Artful Yarn to provide warmth and community where there is such a need for kindness and belonging.
Mary recently dropped off her donated items! A BIG thank you to all of you who donated knitted, crocheted and quilted items! Over 180 pieces were delivered to the shelter before the holidays! Now Mary is fulfilling the other requirements of her project by facilitating skill-building sessions with younger scouts as well as conducting knitting times with residents at The Lantern.
Congratulations Mary! We are so proud of you and appreciate that we could be a small part of your Gold Award project.
Thank you to everyone who donated yarn last month during our I Love Yarn Day celebration. Several organizations received your donations who in turn will knit and crochet warm, cozy items for those in need. We are no longer taking those donations, but encourage you to check with your area senior center, faith community or other nonprofits who would be happy to take your yarn or needle donations! The Artful Yarn conducts this yarn donation drive every Fall. See you in 2019 when we ask you to share the yarn love again!
